I'm wondering if this router supports any custom firmware that I can install for some extra features? I seem to remember years ago I use a Linux based firmware but I have forgotten what it is called.

Is it worth installing custom firmware?

Hi mate, if you don't get any response here, its worth asking the lads over at snbforums, they dabble a lot in router custom firmware / mods. They helped me out when I was having firmware issues with my asus mesh system.

Thank you. I haven't heard of that forum before. I'll check it out.
What are you looking to gain? You are probably thinking of OpenWRT.
Yep. That sounds right. I'm looking for a customisable firewall that uses something like pf under the hood.
I don't believe OpenWRT or DD-WRT have support for the axe5400
I see. Thank you.
