I'm sort of feeling the water for a custom cooling solution but the only way it would be possible is with custom handmade parts.
What fills heat pipes to give them there heat moving properties? and how hard would it be to source something along these lines if at all possible?
Lastly is there a restriction on the length a heat pipe can be before it ceases to be effective?

cheers mate well ethanol shouldn't be a problem i can see and the tubing itself is easy enough to find the wick or powder on the other hand would be a bit harder to source  fine heated metal powder dont see that everyday or copper wick with a small poor in it
shall have to think about this a little harder

Billy,

Whilst ethanol might be used in the article you linked to, most if not all current CPU heatpipes use a common refrigerant r134a (tetraflouroethane) as a working fluid.

A user on xs was selling a variety of premade custom heat pipes, i don't know if they are still available...
