Hullo,

I wonder if any of you fine UK folk have any experience of audiologist appointments for in ear monitor mouldings?

I'm seriously considering purchasing a pair of UE-10 Pros direct from Ultimate Ears and they obviouslpy require that I send my ear impressions off to them.

I've read elsewhere that Specsavers Hearcare or whatever it's called now take mouldings in each of their stores which would be handy as I have one locally and could easily sort it that way.

Does anyone have any help or advice please, either regarding the UE10Pros or the moulding experience?

Cheers :)

I had my moulds for my UE10s and my E5's done at my local hospitals audiologists department, costs about £20-30 or so depending on where you go. Its a pretty simple procedure, just take the instructions from UE's website with you to make sure they do them to the correct standard.

Regarding the UE10s you wont find anything better, simple as that. Believe me when I say I have tried everything from Shure E5s to Futuresonics Earmonitors and Etymoics offerings too.

Im a professional monitor engineer and work for some of the biggest bands out there, most of them are now using UE10s, and hopefully moving a few of them onto the new UE11's in the near future (you may want to consider them yourself, the quad drivers supposedly offer immense low frequency extension!)

A company called Handheld Audio are their UK distributors and I've always found them to be very helpful when answering questions.

Only thing to decide really is if you want them as a fully soft silicone or hard silicone. For comfort the soft is better, although they are not as robust and I found them harder to keep clean. Hard also give better isolation in my experiance.

Thanks for that amazingly helpful, fantastic reply mate, really, really appreciated :)

I'm just looking at the UE11's at the moment - very tempting indeed ;)

I use universal fit UM2's at the moment which I'm quite happy with, although the lows tend to overpower everything else at times, and I want a step up in terms of fit and isolation...

I wish I could justify a set of customs, there just too pricey especially as I'd want UE11's if going for top end phones for the low down punch. I am tempted by livewires given their price point and I see they do DIY custom kits (how could that possibly go wrong ;) ) may give it ago and strike it off as a lesson leant if I muck them up.

Highly recommend handheld audio btw, they have replaced my UE 5 pros 3 times now and been nothing short of excellent each time.
