I'm planning on installing a H50 into my zalman gt900 case - it's too small to custom w/c and air cooling isn't a brilliant option with my mobo, blood rage, as big HSF foul any ram with it's own 'tall' heatsink. Therefore I'm going to give the H50 a try but would really like to mount it to the roof of my case. I really need to know how long and how flexible the coolant hoses are on ther H50, I believe there 20cm, which by my guess will be a tight fit. really tight. Below are two quick pics uploaded off my phone, first shows case from the side, second has a 120mm fan 'tacked' in place where I'd like to put the H50. Help / comments greatly appreciated.

Would mounting in the roof not make it more difficult for the pump to move the coolant around? Resurators have a limit on how high the inlet/outlet can be from the pump.

hmmm

2nd pic has disappeared. Will check when i'm back near a pc.

What would help also would be the fitting instructions from one of the kits. Googled earlier but couldn't fine one.

Wouldn't have thought mounting rad to roof would cause too many problems re flow. It'r only 5" above (i'm going to regret posting that), surely back flow will be increased too?

Pumps don't like being upside down much. You can run a ddc at any orientation except upside down.

I can't believe that if the H50 fits a 120 radiator, ddc and some form of waterblock wont. You can even get the waterblock and ddc combined thanks to swiftech.

Unless its the price of the H50 which appeals?

it's mostly the price, i'm cheap.

Isn't the pump on the cpu block on the h50 kit?

I could happily get a 240 in there, just means cutting the mounts away for the top three 5 1/4 bays, which i'm happy to do. Price is a big driver though, if i could buy used i'd be tempted.

Oh, it might be. Removes the problem of running it upside down if it is.

I'd go second hand with a 240 myself. I fail to see how a 240 radiator is considered barely adequate for an i7 but the corsair h50 seems to be considered fine. Different idea of reasonable temperatures I suppose

They are a bit stiff as they are metal ridged but once its put in position theres no problems, got the wife to hold it while i screwed it in......(mmm)
