Im getting OcUK to (hopefully) do me a custom spec pc which will be used for gaming / work

Im looking at getting:

Coolermaster HAF 922
Asus P6X58D Premium
i7 920 2.66ghz @ 4.0ghz
Corsair H50-1
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-14400 C7 1600MHz Tri Channel Kit (am i right in thinking that 2000mhz is not going to be effective with the overclock so 1600mhz would be best?)
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition (possible 2 in crossfire though maybe not due to costs)
LG BH10LS30 10x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Drive
1st Drive - Crucial C300 SSD SATA III 128GB (once its released at end of feb)
2nd Drive - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB

What do we think? Anything im missing out?

What sort of work do you do on it?
What res do you game at?
I think no matter the answer youre massively overspeccing, you havent stated a budget or detailed intended uses, prob got no replies due to suspected trolling, figured I'll give you benefit of the doubt

Hmm what is trolling?

I want a powerful pc, i dont see the issue? Budget isnt really an issue, i know its going to cost well over £2k for what i want. When i asked if anything was missing out i was referring to additional cooling, esp if i did decide to go crossfire on those cards

Edit: Googled it, what the hell?! Me asking for advice is me trolling? If you read one of my other threads you'd see ive just had to send a pc back that was configured and setup badly/incorrectly (not from ocuk) im simply trying to get other peoples advice before making an order from people who may have a similar set up.

I'm pretty sure this chap is real myself.

Does this mean you've sent the hideously clocked one back to whence it came?

Weird choice of motherboard, normal choice for a high end gaming system is the rampage. You don't want 2ghz ram, firstly because it's unlikely to run at 2ghz, and secondly because it's hard to measure the improvement using synthetic benches and impossible in reality. 6gb at 1600mhz cas 7 would be spot on, and a much better choice than the previous 12gb you had in mind.

I'm not 100% on the psu, think the 1kW model has fan issues. Is there a 1000W seasonic available?

Otherwise it's good.

Yes even though i really didnt want to go through the hassle, after thinking about it seriously decided it wasnt really something that needed thinking about, so first thing this morning it was sent back and i rang ocuk to get a quote.

Guy on the phone said he would email me today. (none as of yet) in the meantime i thought id make sure i was getting something known to work with the setup i want.

Reason ive gone for that motherboard is because i want to get the new Crucial SSD drive which is sata III so its either that motherboard or Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 (only 2 i can find which will 1. accept the new i9 chips once released 2. have sata III and USB 3.0

As for the PSU, what do you mean by seasonic? (Sorry) only reason i chose that one was because of our last conversation, wanted to make sure i didnt get a "unknown" psu and wanted something that could handle the setup, esp if i did decide to go for x2 5970's in crossfire.

Highest i can see on the ocuk is 1kw ones so was hoping that would be ok? Would need to be one that ocuk sell so if you have any suggestions... :)

Edit: Ever heard of "Tagan PipeRock TG1100-BZ 1100w Modular BZ Series Power Supply"? Will google it....

I didnt see your earlier posts, and I did say I was giving you benefit of the doubt that you werent trolling (I said this was why others may not be replying), I merely asked for more information in order to give you accurate advice
If youre set on 2 of those gfx cards youll want a large case with decent cooling, if you like the HAF Id seriously conisder the 932, though imo unless youre gaming at some serious resolutions youre completely wasting your money.
Also if you do specify what "work" you do we can advise you on other selections too, eg whether it would be worth looking at 12 gig of RAM, if youre going to want a lot of HDD storage, whether you should go for speed or silence with the HDDs etc etc

Hi

I know you said you gave me the benefit of the doubt that was suprised to see the definition of what it meant still.

I like the 922 but dont really like the design of the 932 even though its better cooling wise. Any others i could look at?

I wanted 12gb of ram however have been advised that with an overclocked i7 920 ocuk wont supply it with more than 6gb due to frequencies or something (cant remember what he said now)

Work wise, i manage websites, so a lot of ftp uploading/downloading hence the SSD. Also use photoshop quite a bit for designing, use reason/cubase (not often anymore mind) for music production. Varies.

Gaming wise, i love gaming, and want to be able to enable the highest settings on all new games for as long as possible. I know it seems a waste of money, but im only considering atm, Im not concerned so much about budget. For once im building a pc, that i want, rather than need.

the 1200 is best air cooling bar none, but you will prob have to remove the middle hdd caddy to fit the long gfx cards
theyre right (obviously) for your OC 12 gig will be problematic, however for your photo work it would help, depends on how large the files are and which is more important to you, could get them to supply 6 and the 4 GHz OC then you have a play, see if you can get it stable or you might need to run it lower, 3.6-3.8, as I say it depends on your priorities
For now I'd really just stick with one 5970, even at 2560x1600 it will be plenty, as always you can add another later if required

Once the i9 comes out im assuming upgrading to 12gb wont be a problem as i plan on getting that chip. Im leaving the oc to them as no doubt theyll be making sure its stable under load?

Card wise i prob will just get the one for now and wait for the price to drop a bit but i do have an impulse problem so anything could happen when i make the order lol
