u can replace them or make ur own , C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit) , scroll down and open PSArt.dll , with restorator , and locate splashbackground and its got to be named SPLASHBACKGROUND.PNG ,the image u make , of course
or extract the original 1 an give it a gradient whatever , make sure photoshop is closed off tho when changin the images
I wouldn't take the criticism too hard. You're learning, which is great, and we all have to start somewhere. Keep at it, keep following tutorials and improving your style.
and remember that making any good image at its core should take the basic principles of visual design into account, the rule of thirds is very important and the grouping of elements dictates how we perceive content, the later is extra important in gui design.
