Custom PSU cables, extensions and a new PSU...

So currently in two minds about upgrading my current build (that I love aesthetically) - or selling it and building a new system (wishful thinking in the current climate).

Anyways. One question I have is about my custom white braided cables from cablemod. I bought the ones compatible with my EVGA G2 650w power supply, and it appears from the cablemod website that any EVGA compatible cables they sell are compatible with any EVGA PSU...

I just wanted to sense check if I upgraded to another EVGA PSU that I'd be okay? Any comments/suggestions are very welcome!

Was also tempted if I do go new build to get a NZXT E850 PSU - the tracking features in CAM speak to the nerd in me that loves stats. But I don't think anyone does compatible custom cables, in which case the internet seems to suggest that sleeve extensions are the way to go?

I've always been put off by sleeves as I think they'd make cable management messy, but again, any experiences you could share about using extensions would be great!

Extensions are compatible with any PSU as they just plug into the ends of the current cables. The downside is that you have extra cables to hide but it is the cheapest way to have nice looking cables. I currently use Phanteks red/black extensions in my PC but have also used Bitfenix Alchemy extensions in the past and have had zero problems with either of them.

I would double check with Cablemod customer support with regards to compatibility. EVGA's G2 series are built by Superflower just like the P2, T2, G3 series but I believe that relationship is now over and they have moved a lot of PSU's over to FSP who were already building some lines for EVGA. I wouldn't be surprised if there are different pinouts across the few OEM's that EVGA use to build their PSU's so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Really helpful, thank you.

How easy was it in your experience to hide the extra cable length?

Also wasn't aware of the EVGA move from Superflower to FSP so will reach out to Cablemod!

EVGA's support should be able to tell if modular cables of G2 are compatible with other EVGA models.
But asking about compatibility with other brand PSUs would be futile.

The extra cable length isn't a problem for me as I have a desk module as a PC case. It has two decks, the top has the motherboard, GPU etc in it with a big window at the top, the bottom deck has my water pumps, PSU and everything I don't want to see in it. Out of sight, out of mind. :D
