Im trying to set the custom resolution in the nvidia control panel but its not doing what i want, i use the built in scaling so whatever lower resolution i might use is always at the native screen resolution, im trying to set a custom lower res which works but the problem is its not scaling on the card and instead uses my displays scaler, why does it keep doing this?

I've tried loads of settings but I would have thought you first set the main resolution as the lower one then in advanced you set the adaptor and native res up but it always changes back! :(
 
nVidia broke the scaling options some time ago and only partially fixed them.

There is a patch but it breaks HDCP.
