Hey, I just wondered how you would go about doing this, what type of spray you would use etc. (All for the internal of the case)

I am looking at getting the Lian-Li PC-A7010B Super Full Tower Case.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-146-LL&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=187

However the case is so large that once the components are in it will kind of ruin the look have a black case with all the water-cooling set up against a shiny tacky silver aluminium back.

Now the case pretty much comes apart in every direction..

The top comes off, the sides come off, the internals come off ect ect.

So there is no worry about getting paint on the wrong bits.

What I really need help with is what sort of spray paint to use...

Obviously I need something that is non flammable/heat resistant, and sticks to metal very well.

It is either do it myself or pay a company 70 quid to power coat the inside which I think is a stupid amount of money so i would rather do it myself.

Does anyone know which sort of paint to use? Thanks.

Powder coating is awesome I used to do it myself,
Im not sure on specifics but I think people tend to use just spray paint designed for metal, you know how it says on the tin 'spray paint - plastic' or whatever.

Coat evenly, dry properly etc.

Just dont go getting a fat paint brush and a tin of hammerite :D

Haha no i won't, I couldn't stand that I'm too much of a perfectionist :p I should be alright with a spray can because I used to do a lot of like airfix modles when I was younger and that was when i was like 13 lol and they still look awsome better then some pro ones :D goodness knows how I did it lol patience I guess lol

Just worried that an ordinairy spray can will look tacky when the rest of the case is brushed aluminium?

you get different finishes with spray paint like satin matt gloss etc have a look at them see what you want ........... I think satin is a good finish \0/. No doubt you would need to prime it aswell :)

Lol you say your a perfecionist yet you want to have a go at spraying this yourself

Last post mentions that you will have to prime? Not if it is already painted you dont, only if it is bare aluminium. If it is bare aluminium then you will need an etch primer for it, but you might be able to get a paint that is direct adhesion. (By that I mean it will key directly without a primer). Not quite sure what you mean by spray can will look tacky? Its not the can it will be how the paint is applied.

Make sure you do the spraying outside as well as it will stink.

Let me know if you need any more help, I own a paint spraying company and have been spraying for over 20 years :D

Thanks so much mate :) ... no no I am a perfectionist and I don't mind spraying it because I know I will do a good job because as mentioned before I have done a lot of spraying/painting, not only doing my own airfix-type models, but metal ones, also I have used spray cans multiple times in both art and resistant materials back in school and I never had any trouble doing it unlike some people who concerntrate it on one spot for ages and end up with a massive splodge lol :p

Matte finish usually looks quite good if you're doing it black, you really don't need heat resistant paint... but the Hammerite matte black heat resistant spray paint would have a fairly tough finish.

I done the inside of mine white a while back:

Oh no I am definitely using heat resistant paint as I made the mistake of not using it when I spray painted my old CRT monitor and the paint melted :) :p

Im looking into spraying the inside of my case too, most places where Ive seen other people spraying their cases themselves theyve used a primer. A very light sanding first, then a coat of primer and then 2 or 3 top coats. I personally like matt black, looks great :D

But nothing hot will be touching the paint?

Nothing hot phyiscally touches the case of a CRT monitor, but the pure heat of the components can cuase the paint to melt/bubble. Think about it, a 70C CPU along with a couple of 90C GPU's and the entire motherboard chucking out heat it doesnt have to actually touch the case but the pure ambient temperature will be enough to 'disturb' the paint job.
