Custom tags for .avi's ?

Hey

I want to add attributes to films (.avi or .mp4) such as release year/rating etc, and create custom column headers in windows explorer to view/sort by these new 'tags'. Basically the extact same way explorer shows .mp3 attributes in detailed view.

Is it possible to do any of this?

virtual dub can do it without recompression, but it won't show in explorer, only in Media player classic . i just tested it on an avi and it didnt work in windows media player or vlc for some reason. worked fine in MPC. EDIT:http://abcavi.kibi.ru/download.htm this seems to be able to do what you want, im not sure about arranging it in windows though. actually, i tried that aswell, and it still only worked in MPC, but it might just be my version of windows, or maybe it just doesnt like xvid.
