Hey all,

I first saw this mod from ALXAndy so big thanks to him for the initial idea and plans which I based my bracket from.

Thought some people might be interested in seeing how I made the bracket so I took some pictures along the way.

It started with some quick sketches which turned into a very simple template.

I cut the template out and stuck it to a piece of 2mm perspex which I had already bent along one side. (didn't get to photograph this but essentially you just heat up the perspex and carefully bend it along a straight edge)

Next I cut out the bracket roughly on a band saw. (you could easily do this by hand if you have the patience :))

and sanded the edges smooth. (again easily done by hand)

I finished off the internal part with a file and sand paper.

then marked and drilled the hole centers for mounting the bracket to a 120mm fan.

I'm using a 80mm arctic f8 fan which has reverse blades so the fan will sit behind the bracket and blow air onto the VRM's.
If you wanted the fan in front of the bracket like Andy's design you would need to use a different fan with regular blades and change the design of the bracket so as not to restrict air flow.

I cut the fan from the frame using pilers.

and filed the rough edges flat.

Next I applied carbon wrap to the bracket.

Then roughly decided where the fan should sit.

I then mixed up some epoxy resin glue and applied generously to the back of the fan.

and clamped the fan to the bracket being careful not to use to much pressure which could damage the fan. (you could use an elastic band to secure the fan while the glue dries)

lastly add a sticker and attach the bracket to another fan, radiator, case and away you go.

cheers guys.

The f8 pro is a pretty quiet fan for an 80mm. I have it hooked up to a fan controller and at 1000rpm I'd consider it very quite, only thing you can hear from the pc at these speeds is the wc pump.

At full whack (2000rpm) it does get loud but then so does the rest of the rig :)
