Custom water cooling for a novice, what would I need and where to start?

Hi all,

Having decided to get a new 1070 GPU, I am now wondering about moving away from a large air cooler to water cooling, just the CPU for now, which is an i7 4770K, system in signature.

The Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL gives me a load of options on radiator size, but really I have no idea what I would need size wise for radiator, nor if I may downsize this case as I seem to be wasting the space at the moment.

What are recommended, I can fit a seperate pump, or pump combined with internal Reservoir, not too keen on a bay res as I use optic bays, at least one. The mini XL has various locations for a res, rear panel, bracket mid, and the floor if I remove the drive bays, which I can do if I get an HDD bracket.

No idea about all this, never touched water cooling, but would appreciate some tips pointers and recomendations?

One thing I do want is things to be quieter, the system sits quite close to me and the stock system fans/CPU/Cooler are audible. I use the system late, sometimes it runs a few days non stop and heats the room, so quiet is important.

Would be quite happy to run a Monsta 360 in white in the roof if I can maintain one optic bay, dropping the drive bays and putting the pump and res in that space (fans can go above the roof also)? But what size res? Preference with Pump in base for that sort of location! (around 10" of height in there)

I will most likely remain with air on the GPU this year.

No idea what is the best way to start, but I have some money to start this, and if I dont do it now most likely never will.

I like some of the kit below. Of course no idea what is best suited. Quite like the idea of a Monsta Rad but purely due to looks not what I may need, can go 140 in places, and I have four 120mm Akasa Vipers in yellow I dont use in my spares.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,311.56
