Hi

I want to cool:

2 x 7800 GT (SLi'd)
Opty 144

It will all be installed in a P180.

So, I'm after a few recommended setups from people based on the parts they already use. I'm starting from scratch so need everything. I've not got a budget but would like to stay below £160 if I can. I'm after a good balance between cooling and noise.

So, spec away at your hearts content!

Thanks

Tom

£160 isnt exactly going wild mate.

for starters a CPU and 2 graphics cards would rule a storm out because of huge restriction. and it would also rule out a single radiator.

so your looking at:
twin/ tripple rad ~ £40-60
2x GPU blockss ~ £70
CPU block ~ £35 - $50
Tubing ~ £20
Pump ~£45-60

= £190 - £260 ISH ! ! ! ! ( plus fittings etc )

unless you want to go real cheap ?

about £170 would see you through for the cheapie components

tight budget mate !

OK, well thats OK. Just going about my reading, £160 seemed right. I'll spend more if it needs it. So If my budget was £230, could you spec me a full custom kit for that that's suitable for OC and still quiet?

Cheers

And no holes! But I wouldn't mind maybe cutting the top or back exhaust fan grills out

yeh, I want to mount the Rad using the screw holes for a rear fan, that's why I like the idea of the Swiftech Apex kit, just not sure if it could handle the addition of 2 GPU's into the circuit if I use 1/2" tubing?

erm... are you missing something mate ?... two somethings infact?

and id ditch that £129 + V A T full faced gimmick for two low profile Maze 4's
the full face blocks are too restrictive, too expensive, and well, just not needed

yeh i ammended it dont know why trhe pump and rad didnt appear in the copy and paste, but i did calculate it with them.

and as for fulla face coolers, in sli they are a lot easier to mount than two maze 4's plus they look a lot better and on cooling performance they perform just as well as a maze 4 block... they may not justify there price in some peoples opinions but id pay extra for the cleaner looking finish

dunno how that first lot totals to £68 tbh, seeing as the Thermochill rad is around £50...

you also want to buy 2 x 120mm fans for the rad.

I got the nexxxos waterblock as I wasnt sure if I was going to upgrade to Intel when conroe is out or not. Im still not sure about that, but I am sure that the alphacool block is brilliant.

Ive a thermochill 120.2 and my load temps on 144 @ 3.1 is only 41'c

the TDX block is a poor choice now tbh

AQX MP-05 LE is a much better option, as is the NexXos if budget is a problem :)

i disagree
i think the mp-05 will add a little too much restriction to the loop specialy if theres 2x full cover GPU blocks, its like running a storm of a hamster ina wheel, great block but if the lopp is too restricted your not going to get the best out of it.

an mp-05 and 2x maze 4 GPUS would be better option, but still i think the TDX is a good choice.

**EDIT*******
the MP-05 is MORE restrictive than a storm !!

i see you're point, but it depends what pump he's getting ;)

yes it does, but most of the pumps people choose for watercooling at present would struggle with that kind of loop.
let em check some graphs

cascadefull6gb.png

that will give a good comparison of the pumps availible

its also worth noting the heat dump fromt he pumps aswell, the MCP600 (aka aqua extreme 50z) has the lowest at 8w and the highest are obviously rthe iwaki's

thanks to Cathar for the graph.

I did a setup not long ago got it in my system now

cpu:swiftech storm £50
gpu:maze 4 lp sli kit £90
res:thermotube 10" £40
rad:thermotube pa120.2 £50
pump:dander den d5 £50
tubeing: tygon r3603 £20
fans: panaflo l1a :D had to import £30

total £330

Never knew it cost me that much but i dont care cools my comp down so wel got my sli kit down from 80oC to never over 40oC. Wasnt happy because i got import tax on the fans as wel.

Cheers for all the input!

Yep, it's my first! It's a big setup to do for my first time but I've got to start some where! Just doing lots of research, asking about etc.

I like the idea (seeing as it's my first time) of using the Swiftech Apex Ultra kit + 2 GPU coolers. Would this setup work? What would the cooling potential of it be?
