Cutting down on start-up time

Hey, im trying to make windows run faster atm and i heard that icons slow down ** pc? because atm i have 40 icons on my desktop so my idea was yo majke a folder on the desltop called games and then put all the game icons inside, would that work? is there anything else i can do?

I think the effect would be minimal, have you looked at what is actuall starting up with windows? Also look at things like background services that are running that are not needed!

If you have things like demo installs or large files on your desktop this can seriously slow you down. Makes a difference to me.

Cheers for that for that 7. and i do indeed have ,many a large fiel on my desktop.. lol
