Moving into a larger house soon and I feel my Virgin superhub 2 is already stretched enough, once a week I have to reboot it due to the wifi freezing up on it, so I want to put it into modem mode and use a different router.

What can you guys recommend for £150/200 quid to give good wifi distribution for streaming/downloading and gaming for 3/4 devices at one given time. I need one with wake on lan as well for access to my gaming PC when I'm out.

A Ubiquiti ER-X Router (£50) and 2x Ubiquiti AP AC Lite (£85ea) would serve you well.

You might get away with 1 AP if you can mount it centrally and your house does not have brick/block internal walls.

As above, however the router won't be as easy to configure in some areas as regular off the shelf consumer kit but it will outperform them.

It's one single cat 5 plus a short injector? You could buy an 8 port switch with 4 POE ports for £50, then you'd have a cable from the router to the switch, then one from the switch to the AP.

If you're moving into a new house you should be looking to running some network cable anyway before you decorate.

Sure you can get another all in one unit but there is no guarantee that it would be a significant improvement in the overall coverage of the SH.

like what he says.. unless you have the older superhub (with broken wireless) one consumer wireless routers is not going to be much different to another... router + cable + additional (attached to the wire) access point is the best solution (assuming you even need it at the new house)

if your moving to a new house then leave your old superhub there and you will be provided a new superhub which will solve your issues for free.

if you then in future want something better then look at the options suggested above.
