Cutting psu wires?

Hi guys, i'm thinking this would be okay, I have loads of clutter behind my case due to unused adapters etc.

For example, 4 pin molex to about 4 sata cables which I really don't need, so I use 2 and then the 2 are just clogging up the space behind my case and I want it as neat as possible.

Can I just clip off the end parts which wont be used with wire cutters and tape over the cable with insulation tape and leave it? I'd imagine I can just wanting some clarification, my psu cables are stupid and would make it a lot tidier and clutter free if I ever want to change the layout or something.

I have asked this question before as was in the same boat, but I ended up with a new case which allows the spare ones to hide behind the motherboard tray. As far as I am aware it is perfectly ok to do, but I was advised that just taping up the ends was a bit dangerous. You can buy these things called 'heat shrink caps' which you can stick over the end bit, heat them up and they will shrink round the wire and give you a much nicer look and be much safer. They are only a couple of quid.

Cool thanks, I may just do that.

I have space behind my motherboard tray, but when it's all wired up it can be tight squeeze when putting the rear panel of the case back on. :D Would just make it a much more comfortable fit.

Provided you insulate the bared ends properly with something nothing will go wrong. Tape is fine but you'd need to be sure it is secure and that it's not going to snag itself on a sharp edge.

What I'd do is cut the cable after the first connector but still near the connector and maybe tuck the cut wire back into the connector. This way if you ever need to add the other connectors back on you can do so. Should be easy to hide one connector.
