Hi All,

I have an old old Carina E which is about a K reg, the engine (as on most Toyota cars) is a beast and works alright, but I have noticed that on full lock my CV joint is starting to knock/grind...

I have a mate that owns a garage, and I think that I will be looking at about £160 for the CV joint, but I'm not sure if I should just get a new car now as its starting to get expensive?

£160 seems VERY expensive imo.

edit: Im at work atm, just checked through Carina E CV joints, most expensive was about £60 retail inc VAT.

Fitting isnt 'that' hard, you need to remove the wheel, remove the centre hub/cv nut, undo the bottom ball joint/wishbone pinch bolt, pull the strut forward to release the shaft from the hub (taking care not to pull the shaft from the gearbox), remove the cv joint and replace with new one.
