Hello.

Just updating a few job sites im on. Ive noticed you can allow your CV to be seen my potential employers.

Do you usually allow this but take your address off the CV ?? Some sites you can allow potential employers to view your profile but not your CV which is what ive done on totaljobs.

Thanks for reading

I'd suggest getting a new PAYG throw-away phone number. Having recently uploaded my CV I was getting hounded by recruitment consultants for weeks to the point I was getting so many calls I just didn't bother listening to half the voice mails.

No, you just upload a version of your CV that doesn't have your phone number on it .

My experience of recruitment consultants and is that most of them would rather speak on the phone rather than email... I assume because they like being very vague and non-specific about the opportunities they're trying to staff, at least initially. I've given very specific instructions to some to email rather than call, and yet they carry on calling.

Regardless, I've removed my CV now as I am no longer looking but will certainly exercise more caution next time.

Of course they'd rather speak on the phone. They'd also rather place you in an inferior job for the sake of their sales commission than see you land a more suitable job via a competitor. That doesn't mean that you should oblige them. They're working for you, not vice versa.

Email is sufficient until you've established that the position is relevant and they're not chancers.

There is no need at all these day to have your address on your CV. Name and town (if you want) and contact details.

This tbh, my CV doesn't have my address on these days.
I list name, email and phone - that's plenty for anyone to get in touch.

One of the agents I've worked with told me that he has targets for the amount of time he has to spend on the phone. If he's not hitting those targets he'll randomly call people up to see how things are going without any particular jobs available.
Assuming other agencies have similar targets this is why they all love calling you.
