Just a quick question, have you posted your CV on monster? If so have you also left your contact details in?
Was about to post mine up but then had the paranoid thought of anybody being able to get them.

I put my contact details up, I get occassional calls from different agencies, don't really get any others.

You should make your monster profile 100% complete, it increases the visibility to employers & agencies. Also, make a small change each week (change a word, add a space, or whatever..) as it will then show your profile as having been updated very recently and I think helps with visibility again.

i did it once, got a few calls out of the blue. Don't think its worth being paranoid about.

I found I got most of my enquiries via Jobsite, and a few via Reed. Monster were all but useless for me. Maybe that's industry dependant though.

Anyway, I left my full contact details in my CV.

Surely only companies and agencies can see your CV anyway? With that, aren't they exactly the people you want to be able to contact you? I'd suggest leaving them on.

This. Only registered recruitment agencies and companies with large enough budgets to afford the access fees will be able to see your CV

It's not public information.

If you put your CV online I would suggest being as complete and truthful as possible, especially in the extra details the job boards get you to fill in before you upload your CV.

I would also suggest putting it on JobSite, Reed, CWJobs (If your IT) and Total Jobs. Different companies/agencies tend to use different boards at different times (Depending on budgets/deals etc) so it helps you get most exposure by using all of them.

If you need any advice drop me a message.

Cheers Alex.

I've put on my CV and filled in some of the random questions they ask you, but a lot just feel pointless.

I used indeed.co.uk which seems to use key word searches and that searches a lot of the big boys in recruitment. It's just not the most effective service as if you search for "marketing assistant" it can basically bring anything up with marketing in the job description, such as "you'll be aiding in the marketing departmen" or "accountant-working for the marketing department" etc.

Monster and jobserve are quit expensive for job agencies to use, I found i got more calls from having my cv on cwjobs.

You want your phone number on there and maybe email address.

I had my CV on the main sites - recruiters always preferred to make contact via telephone. And as previously stated, your CV is not viewable to Joe Public - the recruiters have to pay subscriptions to see them. It's all about the sites making money.

I had zero contact information specified on LinkedIn - but recruitment noobs would look up the company I worked at and call that to get me to hire people - I ended up removing all information.

My advice, don't put any information anywhere. Recruitment agencies are super desperate and have no respect.
