I've had enough of the ruddy thing but would like some advice on organisation: I've organised it so that my education (which isn't too IT related) ends up on the second page after my emplotement history (which is IT related) and then my skills/experience. I feel like I've put it in order of the most relevant things, would that be reasonable?

I usually have education at the top, but don't cover it in much detail. Everything bar interests and qualifications then follows chronologically.

All down to personal preference at the end of the day :)

My CV is laid out as follows

Name
Address
Tel No.
Mob No.
Email
DOB
NI No.
Key Skills
Education
Work Experience (maybe employment should go before this?)
Employment
Interests
Referees

I would only put work experience on if it was relevant to the role I was going for but the rest of my experience wasn't.

Contact details
Personal statement
Education
Selective work experience
Hobbies and interests
Referees

Likewise.

I'd go for:

personal details
education
work experience (by this I mean positions held)
positions of responsibilty
skills
interests
referees

My cv is here if you want to take a look you're welcome

:)

my education is at the end as its nothing to do with the jobs im interested in.

I think to some degree your educational qualifications are more important when you are younger and less important when you are older as job experience and responsibilities are of more interest.
For example if I had a degree in French History but was an Engineer then my education would not be of as much interest to an engineering employer as 20 years of mechanical design work etc.
Conversely if you are a tradesman then you need up to date certificates and they are very important.

Yeah I agree with VRII, if its you've only left school/college recently, your education is going to be more important than any jobs you have had so should go top (unless they are relevent to the one you're applying for).

On my CV, I now have skills and employment history above eduation, but that is because they are now more relevent to my career.
