Tried searching for this but unfortunately the search string is too short, anyways...

Getting round to writing my first CV and not entirely sure where to start. A few googles have given me some (pretty dire) examples of CVs and was wondering what sort of templates the population of OcUK recommend/use?

This is my second job so looking for a CV that focuses more on my education and skillset than previous experience in jobs.

Was also wondering when I should be using a 'covering letter'? Is it too formal and what sort of content should I be putting in it?

Cheers,

do a search on here for curriculum vitae, plenty of results, good luck!

The way I see it, CV: Punctual points and facts of your employment history/qualifications/achievements/responsibilities.

Covering letter, is where you sell yourself to the business, say what you can offer, why you want the job, perhaps what you do in your spare time (if relevant)

To add, don't just copy a covering letter like a lot of people do. List interesting things that are relevant to the job. At the end of the day as Ice says you are selling yourself
