Hey guys

I got a Commodore Gaming case ages ago, inside is a CWT PSC550R-E 550w PSU. Its full name seems to be Sursa ATX True Power 550 W SLI/CROSSFIRE ready CWT PSC550R-E - NOU.

I can't really find anything about CWT PSU's, I am thinking of maybe changing this as we all know the PSU plays a very important part. Does anyone know if they are cheap PSU's or is CWT pretty good?

Thanks for any knowledge

CWT (Channel Well Technology) is a major OEM for many brands such as Corsair/OCZ etc.

Is there any info on the side in regards to the Amps/Voltages?

CWT is Channel Well a good oem, they make the HX-750 to HX 1050 for Corsair as an example.

Naturally they have a range of products from decent budget to high end.

Looking at this, I believe that PSU (maybe with different branding) is an old design used by some antec PSUs. However, they had some issues, so if you plan to use it with an expensive new rig or one that will need a lot of power then I would suggest investing in a new supply.

That said, CWT are not a bad company, they mainly make OEM designs which they sell on to other companies and many of these have been excellent. A recent example is the Corsair HX 750W and 850W - these are both fantastic supplies with a large number of high scoring review (based on these I got one myself and it has been running flawlessly for a couple of years now).

Ah, well I just stripped the side down and removed the PSU from its screws so I could get the Volts and stuff of it and took a picture I also cleaned the top as it was dusty :) So if this picture helps identify it at all should I change it or is it OK. My rig is in my sig, I am 100% happy with the rig but the PSU has been eating away at my mind for a while and finally I have got around to looking into it.

The actual PSU came with this case which my PC sits in but I got it new elsewhere:

Thats got some decent Amps on the 12v:)

Having looked at some of the ANtec reviews mentioned in that "bad capacitor" post, I dont think its related at all to those designs.

Its got a very good amount of Amps on the 12V rail (which modern PC's use more), I'm going to say its safe to use.
