I had one arrive today (not from OcUK) to put in an HTPC and it is a dud. Just finished testing with a known good'un, so thankfully it does seem to be the PSU.

Has anybody else had issues with this PSU or was it just very bad luck on my part? Trying to get a feel for whether or not to get it replaced or just refunded.

Those PSU's are normally very good, a lot better than most other 400w PSU's. I would go for a replacement unless there is any real need to get something different.

I hate returning stuff. If the shipping hadn't been so ridiculous and been nearly as much as the PSU I'd probably just have bought another one.

Thats not good news never heard of anything happening like this to any other PSU, lucky your bought from OCUK their customer serivce is meant to be amazing!

Hey alexhull24, reading those threads it does indeed sound familiar. After powering up the fans would spin, the hdd and optical would make some noise, but nothing happened. This was going into an old Dell I had lying about that I was gonna make use of as an HTPC and the power light on the pc was flashing amber, which apparently means there is power supplied, but an internal fault. So basically it was either the PSU or motherboard and since it fired up ok using the PSU from this system....

Didn't get it from OcUK regrettably and after my first contact with the retailer on the phone today I'm not feeling very confident this will be a simple return and replace process.

That's a shame, OcUK have agreed to test mine themselves and provide an immediate replacement if found faulty. They've done that for me in the past.

Sounds like the same problem to me, my machine didn't POST at all, but peripherals etc all powered up. The second machine I tried it on was the same, except the CPU fan didn't power up either, so I had to turn it off in fear of overheating. I have a test PSU and it booted them fine, so I'm pretty confident. I'd say maybe try Corsair, but as you may have read, they go back to the Netherlands, which'll cost a fortune in postage, maybe not even worth it on such a cheap PSU.

seriously ?
DOA's happen all the time, i've seen lots of cases of it, for all makes of PSU's.
it happens with all other hardware as well
considering how many ppl are actually buying these, and only a small number have been bad, thats really not bad at all
