cyanogenMod 7.1 is out

To fix the camera, move the photos/videos you took whilst using the samsung rom to another location, or delete them.

And this has fixed it!! Really appreciate it guys. The camera now works, I took a few pics and made a video to test, it works fine and I can access them no problem from the gallery.

Tried this other night on my SGS2, stable release, followed the instructions to the letter.

When restoring apps (the google restore where it reinstalls your apps) and I kept getting errors when they were downloading saying there isn't enough space on the device.

Couldn't find a solution on XDA or the CM forums so restored :(

I got this too. Do you have a memory card in your phone by any chance? I am guessing you do.

I removed my memory card and then downloaded and installed the apps without a problem. I've formatted the memory card and put it back in and it fixed the camera issue I was having but there seems to be some sort of conflict with files that are already on the memory card.

I am almost done copying everything back over to the memory card now, so will download and install my other apps and see if I get the same error.

After sorting out the few issues I had, which I wouldn't have had if I followed the instructions (I didn't actually follow any instructions lol), I've now had a play around with this rom and it seems very stable, and it looks VERY nice! Connecting the PS3 pad took the best part of 2 minutes and it is all running perfectly now. Highly recommended!! :)

Yeah I have an memory card in, still got the error when telling it to use internal storage though which seems to be the only "fix" I could find.

As for the camera issue, I saw something on XDA that said the CM7 camera doesn't like images taken with the stock Samsung camera app, after removing them it works fine. Quite odd.

I had no issues at all when I removed my memory card. I would advise anyone who installs CM7.1 to do it without the memory card in if you have files on there. Once I formatted the memory card, copied the files I actually needed back over, I had no problems with the camera nor did I get any messages saying insufficient space when installing the apps.

I only had a few apps anyway since I have not had the phone for long so I just went back into marketplace and re-downloaded them all without any issues.

Try this, worked for me :)

I found this somewhere on the internet a while back, don't remember where exactly, but this solves the problem for me... enter this exactly as is into the terminal emulator and you should be able to DL again...

mkdir /mnt/sdcard/market-download-cache
su
cd /cache
mv download download.bak
ln -s /mnt/sdcard/market-download-cache download
ls -ahl

Ahem :)

Can't get this to install from 7.03 on a Desire. Tried installing over the top won't go beyond the splash screen, tried wiping and installing and still won't go beyond the splash screen. Only thing to try is wiping the SD card and trying again.

Anyone else had troubles?

So this will work on my SE X8? Currently running stock 2.1.

yes see here

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/437-sony-ericsson-xperia-x8/

that device page is not a list of all compatible devices but devices which recently have had stable cyanogen mods made for them, i think. for a full list of compatible devices see here

Hmm I wonder why? Granted the x8 is a mid range phone at best it should still have more then enough power if old HTC phones like the hero can run it.

as above

look at their forums, its a much better resource than their site.

X8 only has 168MB of RAM. Awful phone.

HTC Hero has 288MB of RAM.

Cheers Sonny.

Think I'll start working on it tomorrow. hopefully it'll help with the battery issue. Use to having a phone that only needed charging 1-2 times a week lol

no problem, but the main issue will be your battery and power used, undervolting may help somewhat but underclocking defeats the purpose and makes it longer to do things.

i would look on ebay for a bigger battery (one which holds more electricity)

So I need to upgrade Gen1 to Gen2 then? That sucks =/

no it doesnt suck, its simple to do and all new rom's are gen 2, if i remember correctly you dont even need to upgrade to gen 2, you can convert it to gen 1, but there is no point in doing so as all new roms will be gen 2 anyway.

plus im pretty sure gen 2 is better than gen 1 overall anyway. otherwise why would ZTE have changed it?

It sucks in the sense that Gen2 stuff wont work on Gen1 converted to Gen2 phones as well as a stock Gen2 phone. If that makes sense :p
