Cyberpunk Edge runners on Netflix

I've just started watching, it's based on the same Universe as the game and while the animation isn't on par with Arcane it certainly suits the story. It's interesting so far.

I was just going to ask in the game forum, but I’ll ask here… do you need to have played the game to watch this? I’m basically holding off playing until the expansion now!

I’ve played the game but not completed it yet. There are crossovers like Arasaka and other call backs but I don’t even think anyone from the game is mentioned or referenced. It feels like an alternate story in the same universe.
