Hello,
i purchased the Saitek cyborg rat 7 mouse from overclockers around a month ago, maybe a little more or less, anyhow, it is a brilliant mouse and has worked fine up untill yesterday, when i move the mouse now the cursor just jumps all over the screen, i have checked there is no dirt on the laser at all and the mat i have used it on worked fine.i really don't know whats wrong with it ,i am very dissapointed this has problem has arose as i am so used to using the mouse i have given up on gaming untill i can get the problem fixed, what can i do people? Any suggestions? if the problem continues would i be eligible for OCUK To replace my mouse? Thanks for reading, Dan

The R.A.T. sensors are horrible quality and go wrong a lot. Try to reinstall drivers, and if that doesn't work get an RMA.

I have encountered the same problem with my rat 7.

Very erratic movement on the x axis (left and right), although the y axis is fine.

The rat 7 uses the "Phillips Twin Eye" sensor, which has received a lot of bad press from users due to its odd z-axis behavior (lifting the mouse causes the pointer to jump drastically).

The twin eye sensor measures the X and Y axis separately with a different "eye" so I am assuming that the problem I have is that the X axis sensor is faulty, but the y is not.

After searching various computer forums I have read that the mousepad you choose can be important, so I have tried it on a Sphex (recommended by 5 other rat 7 users) and a few other cheapy mousepads of varying colours.

The rat I have doesn't work on the Sphex, it works a little better on a dark green hard plastic cheapy mousepad, but it does not work perfectly, and for over £70 it should be perfect.

I have also heard from users and from Saitek themselves that cloth mousepads are unreliable with this device, as are very gloss surfaces and very dark surfaces, it seems to be a very picky rodent.

Overclockers has given me an RMA number and I am about to send it off, so I am hopeful that a replacement will work without problems.

Let me know how your problems go, and I will keep you updated with mine so hopefully we can find a winning mouse/mousepad combination :).

PS: what mousepad where you using that was "perfect" to start with?

I have a RAT 7 and havnt had any problems with it yet, but I find the palm rest too high and I cant see any way of lowering it, the replacement rests seem to be the same height, tried using it without but its not very comfortable and there doesnt seem to be any alternative on their site
any ideas

What mouse-pad/gaming surface are you using? I'm trying to compile a list of ones that work well with the R.A.T 7...

I have a R.A.T. 9 with no problems whatsoever, I don't use a mousepad just my desk. I have noticed the problem when lifting the mouse off the desk. After about 2 weeks of adjusting my play style, and using the supplied weights, I don't get the problem. I also use the 2nd highest DPI setting.
