Hello all,

I cycle to work, been doing it for a number of years, but thought perhaps I should have some insurance to protect me?

Having a look, they say your bike must not be over 36 months old etc... but insuring the bike isn't my main concern, I wanted some protection for if I get hit, hurt and off work, and they drive off!

Can you get this sort of cover, if so who with?

I use Bikmo who provide all sorts of cover as part of the package, it's not the cheapest though. Having said that, a couple of my club mates have been hit by cars or crashed badly and they've said the claims process was a doddle to go through and they were really happy with them. Insurance is one of those things that seems expensive until you need it!

I've just added bikes into my John Lewis home insurance thus far. Any comments on if I'm that much better off with a specialist now I have a rather expensive bike to cover?

Bikmo seems quite expensive, as in paying almost as much as my motorbike or car insurance, but at the same time, I guess on a £4k bike that can literally be picked up and walked away with... maybe it's reasonable? (Showing about £360 a year)
