Cyclical Error

Accidentally moved instead of copied some files to my CD drive and during this it locked up and came up with cyclical error.

The original files are now gone but are still showing on the D: drive (when I try and copy them it comes up with the same error).

My thoughts are that the drive had faults running over those particular files and that my only hopes of retreiving them are to sector scan the disk for file fragments.

Any other suggestions?

While I agree with your idea of it being a disk error I think it is the wrong disk that you are thinking about.

With windows CD writing the files are stored on the hard drive before being written to the CD. Burning had not started at this point so the CD is irrelevant at this point. I'm fairly certain it's due to a failure of the hard drive.
