But yeah, I've done it in October. We got a little wet actually, but on the whole it was quite nice still. Possibly preferable to the time I did Girona in June and was quite worried about dehydration at one point with 35+ degree days, up some of the climbs.
 
October probably *should* be ok. It's just been battered by storms as has a lot of Spain so i don't think it's guaranteed, but i imagine for someone coming from the UK shorts and t shirts would be a definite!
 
Booked the ferry crossings at the weekend for Liege-Bastogne-Liege next year.

Can't find the GPX I had for this year's challenge (sportive) route but the long route in 2024 was 259km with 4126m of climbing. Best get some training in! Hopefully the weather will be better than Flanders in 2023...

Might hedge it and have a backup for Sicily, I know going away this time of year can be a bit hit and miss and have had a few wet days, but if 5 of 7 days are dry and warm then i'm good!

Could be worth heading a bit further south.
I think Girona can always be susceptible to rain.
 
Just got back from a week in Mallorca and we had some cracking storms. The sort where the thunder and lightning is all around you. Lasted for hours as well.

Think my favourite ride was when it had been raining for a lot of the day until about 4pm. Went out around 5 and the combination of the rain (and huge puddles in places) along with it being the golden hour was absolutely stunning.

We had those in March, so loud the whole villa shook.

I saw that email, saw the climbs and instantly deleted the email. I notice Col de Sarenne at the end. When I descended that a few years back, the road surface was shocking. I wonder if it's been resurfaced then? It was beautiful though.
 
I was looking at the Col de Sarenne on Streetview this afternoon and thought it looked properly remote (though obviously Bourg and AdH aren't far away) - stunning views.

We have a cycling event near Grenoble called the Super Brevet Randonneur des Alpes, which I rode in July this year. It's run every two years, and it's a brevet event, so not timed and you just have to get around and get stamps on your card - and a pasta lunch in Valloire. However, it's a similar route to next year's Etape, with the Croix de Fer, Montvernier climb (the little one with all the hairpins), then Telegraphe, Galibier and Sarenne at the end. We didn't end in Alpe d'Huez but descended to the valley to give 213km with 5800m.

If anybody is coming across and fancies a spin around Grenoble, let me know.

I was up there a couple of time this year and it's still in the same state, but they are climbing it rather than descending. One of the great alpine climbs from that side.

That's a big day out to say the least.

Had a week staying in Crolles back in 2023. It's a spicey climb up to the Bastille! Loved my solo day out through the Chartreuse, stunning scenery and so quiet.
