Cyclist plague spreading

Dimple, have you thought about getting one of those cycle cameras? If you do get run over it will be better proof than he.said.she.said.

I only ride occasionally but the attitude of some drivers is scary, as if having to overtake me on an empty B road was the same as me pooping on their windscreen.

I really don't want to start doing that and especially now I've got my new attitude on the road - 'I have no rights and everybody is out to kill me' :)

If the BBC documentary is anything to go by and most of the videos on You Tube, then most cyclists with these cameras turn into absolute ass***** when they are recording.

One of the best safety aids I've ever bought is a cycle mirror that fits to the end of my handlebars. On average I will glance at it every 30 seconds and in heavy traffic it becomes my guardian angel and it has really kept me out of trouble on many occasions. There is no way with my arthritis I can keep glancing over my shoulder but the mirror is excellent and keeps me aware of everything coming behind me.
I even had one incident the other week where I had moved out to the middle of the road to turn right and just as I was turning I glanced at my mirror and a car was overtaking me even though he'd got a full road on the left of me  Thank you mirror. I think it goes without saying that if I'm turning right into a road and I'm already in position to do so (whether in a vehicle or on a bike) that I shouldn't have to look behind me to do so.
I have also avoided many left hooks because I've seen the motorist overtaking me with their left indicator on - seriously.

^^ That situation where you have taken up a road position, and the car behind you feels that they must almost run you off the road to get past is a weird one. There is a junction near me where this can easily happens so I have to be really careful. Why they feel they "have" to try and pass you I have no idea.

Given the attitude of some of the people in this thread i.e. "cyclists are a plague", then it's clear they think they are so much more important that any body else, and frankly, that makes THEM a danger.

I didn't mention the first one because my mirror didn't save me but a bloke walking his dog.
I was exactly here - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/previ...08!3d53.0194462!3m2!1i1387!2i905!4f13.1&fid=5 and I had given plenty of time for me to indicate and go over to the right where I'm approaching the bollards and then going across the road to Tesco Direct.
I'd was riding in the middle of the road and as you can see the left side would be completely clear.
Just as I was about to cross over by the bollards a dog walker screamed at me to stop and a red car came flying past me on the wrong side of the bollards and if you travel further up he drove past the next bollards on the wrong side and came over just before the left turning (which incidentally is the corner I came off my bike and woke up in A&E n January, 100% my fault).
Another bloke got his number and said he was going to ring the Police but I said nothing would happen.
That is the closest I've ever had where if he hadn't shouted I might not be here.

Can't even see around the corner much there to be going the wrong side of bollards, not only could he have killed you but he could have also had a head on collision with a car coming around the corner.

Some people need to be taken off the road.
