hey chaps, i am teetering on the brink of getting a new motherboard and currently have a D 820 running at stock. now i know the C2Ds are kicking ass in everything they do but i just want to check some opinions before i go a buying anything else really.

i run watercooling and the only thing currently cooled is the CPU with 2 120mm fans on the double rad. i have read in several places about D 820s hitting 3.5 gb which would be cool but are there going to be many differences between the D820 at say 3.5ghz and the E6300 at whatever i can get that too (lets say 3.2) i'll probably end up getting one in a few months after tinkering with the 820 anyway but its always nice to know where you stand in the game.

any opinions muchly appreciated.

as i suspected, tyvm :) that means i can get my mobo and ram now for 200 notes, (DS3 and Geil 6400 2gb kit) and play with the 820 and then in april get the 6300 for my birthday. schweeeeet lol.

All to make Supcom that little bit better (well and soem 3dsmax/premier work lol)

thanks guys.

While it does vary from app to app, if you focus purely on 'gaming' just as an example.... an E6300 at stock 1.83Ghz generally outperforms a [email protected].

Naturally clocked up to 3.2Ghz the E6300 will just blow away any P4, regardless of how far you clock the P4. You would probably need to get your P4 up to 6 or 7Ghz or so, to truely outperform a 3.2Ghz Conroe :).

e6300 even at stock would wipe the floor with it. with the e6300 @3.2ghz its wayyyyyyyyy better. :p In thats like an entire system upgrades worth of performance diff

the only thing p4s do well is make a lot of heat. :p

ty gents. i just ordered my DS3 and geil ultra 2gb kit so i can play supcom with that and the clocked d820. and then in april effectivly get a whole new feel with just a tiny little addition to the computer hehe.

was thinkin of that while writing the post lol

suicide one without heatsink, you can see the heat distorting the air :D then chuck an egg onto the IHS and you end up with a lovely fried egg and your computer ceases to work, but man its worth it :)

wow......

lol

dont tempt me. Im looking for a nice e4300 to upgrade.

The best this week only offer would be an e4300, a nice quiet cooler, a 8800 gts 640mb really cheap, and some nice peripherals inc mouse keyboard and the logitech g25

wel i am ditching the asetek watercooling to go back to air with a9700 flower, VF900 gpu cooler, eclipse 62 case, northbridge cooler and 2 120mm amber fans. it'll probably mean i cant get quite as fast on the OC as i could have with the water. but the water isnt close to being as good as it could be with more money, and tbh i think i prefer the hassle free air lol.
