I have a D-LINK EWA140 wireless dongle, it has firmware version 1.20E on it according to the sticker on it.

Is there a way to permanently update the firmware on this stick to the latest version from the D-link website, I had a look at the download and it looks to me as if it will only update the driver and firmware for the stick when its plugged into the computer that its been installed to.

Is this correct or will the firmware update and stay on the stick permanently or do i need to do it another way ?

I'm not sure.

Do you mean the DWA-140? if so the latest one on D-Link site is for the Mac not PC.
There is a 1.30 firmware out in the wilds but D-Link wont give it out.

What problems are you having with what OS?

i'm wanting to use the dongle on a tv satalite box but it needs a slightly higher firmware version on it and there is a slightly higher version on the Dlink site but i just dont know if that installs to the computer the dongle is plugged into or if the firmware would actually stay on the stick permanent.

If you click on the download button on the d-link site you will see it says "DWA-140_B2_FW_v1.71s0062.zip" so for the B2 not B1
