After all this time I thought I'd replace my old Alcatel ADSL modem with a D-LINK DSL-504T Router as I have two computers at home.
Bought the Router months back, but lost patience as I couldn't connect ot the internet.
Anyway, I got it out again a couple of weeks back, spoke to my ISP to confirm settings etc on the Router and everything was OK as far as that went. He could see my PC was connected to the ISP but with very limited/virtually non existent connectivity, but could not help any further
My ethernet connection was obvioulsy ok, because I connected to it through http://192.168.1.1 to do setup and used to be connected to the other computer anyway for file sharing etc.
It's driving me mad, I just can't connect to the internet.
One thing that crossed my mind was that Windows was still displaying Username and password, which I assume I don't want to happen, because the Router has this info on it now, and effectively I want to just connect straight to the Router via my LAN SIS 900 ethernet adaptor on my Gigabyte mobo.
Thing is, how do I know my PC is trying to do this? In Network connections, I can set the dial up or Broadband connections as 'default' however, the LAN connection does not have this option when I right click, so how do i force my PC to use the mobo ethernet connection?
Thanks
