Just got back from my driving practical with my Pass :D, so I think it's time to open my interest in the motors section and get some much needed advice.

Currently can't afford a lot, so I'm considering just getting insured on my parents car until I can afford a car, or is it worth waiting until I can afford my own car to get my premium down?

Just when I thought I could afford things again as well :D

Congrats!

Get your parents to ask their insurer if named drivers get can build up there no claims discount. I did this with my GF when she passed and she's now on her own insurance and it's saved her almost £750!

Thanks for all the info and thanks!

I'll try and get it all done tommorow and see what I can get offer wise, I think my parents are currently with Swinton but unhappy with them so they're likely to change anyway so my circumstances may get them to choose an appropriate insurer.

I'm also 21 so I've been told I might get a slight discount as well.

Nice one. Do what you can to just get driving, get used to being out on your own.
Be careful, some roads are horrible this time of year :)

It's quite icy where I live, I was told it might be cancelled but apparently the roads were fine. in fact I was convinced that the hazardous roads made me more cautious not to cause an accident!

If I had the option it'd either be a Clio or a Polo, though I learned to drive in a Honda Jazz so I quite like the feel of Honda's :D.

Congrats mate :)

Elephant/Admiral came back as best quotes on multiple cars for me give them a look.
their 10month fasttrack insurance thing might also be worth an ask about.

Don't buy a 53plate focus :( I did aginst others advice and I hate it, too many problems with it tbh :(

Also have a look on MSE at the insurance job checker thing it saved me a bit off my insurance :)

Cheers, I'm going to book my pass plus with my instructor in a week or two when when I've done my christmas shopping and have enough cash ready so that hopefully will bring it down further.

I just want to be able to do small drives first and get used to driving on my own.

Get yourself a nice new automatic 1.2 diesel Corsa on finance ;).

haha :D
