D15 Noise

I was disappointed with the noise level of my Noctua D15, so I removed one of the fans. Removing one fan has far more than halved the noise level so they must have somehow interfered with each other to cause more noise together than the sum of both individually.

I replaced my already quite Corsair exhaust fan with the spare Noctua. Now almost total silence.

Not sure why yours was noisy, it works fine with 1 fan anyway, had mine that way since release.

Out of interest, how has removing one of the fans affected CPU temps?

Haven't done any proper testing but there is no difference in temps according to bios.

Just curious, but what speed are you running your fans at?

Extreme Quite in AIsuite 3.
Idle, all 4 140mm fans around 250 RPM. Temp 40. Fans set to Turbo, Temp 29.
RealBench: Max temp 78.

Room temp: 22.

Corsair 800D case.
Asus Z97 Deluxe MB.
4790K CPU

Was probably one fan loosely mounted causing vibration.

Its mounted as an exhaust now. I may get a couple more and go all Noctua. (Despite the colour).
