Hi I have a xspc750 and its too noisy can I put a d5 with pump top and just run a pipe from another port on the res instead of using the built in one?

I had the same problem but ended up buying a separate bay reservoir and D5 pump that I could isolate properly. Made a world of difference!

It never occurred to me to try what you're suggesting. In theory it should work, you'll be driving the water through the pump so it'll provide extra resistance to the flow but a D5 has more than enough oomph for that.

I would however, suggest you open the 750 up and see if you can actually remove the built in pump! In fact, I'll go have a look at mine tonight and see if it can be done. Would be nice to use it in my other rig :D

That would be a great help if you could haven't got the cash for a new res and pump at the mo. Unless I can find something used. How many posts before I can view the for sale on here?

How long have you had the 750? I've noticed that they quieten down after a while, but It can take a few weeks. I'm not sure if it's tiny bubbles or that the pump just needs to be run in, but I've used 3 or 4 and they have all been the same

Hi,

Opened up the 750 and it looks like it would be a little tricky to remove the existing pump and re-use it without damaging it.

As you can see, the intake is free.

The out is part of the pump

The cable hole would need blocking too.

If you removed the pump, the nut for the exhaust may not have a thread to go back onto.

If you were willing to destroy the pump then you could cut the cable and saw off the out of the pump then you'd have a free reservoir.

just wondering how long they took to shut up? I ripped one out of my main rig after 2 weeks as I couldn't put up with the noise. Now I want to use it in a different rig but only if it will shut up after while. Otherwise its going in the bin.

I can just run it in with the out/in connected back to each other and just leave it if it will quieten down.

Mine I felt got louder with time not quieter!! Drove me nuts. I had it for 3 months before I got fed up and ripped it out.

I won't buy a bay res/pump again I don't think, either I'll go separate like I have or a tube one inside the case that I can isolate.
