I am thinking of buying one of these phones but wondered if they aree good or rubbish. Also do they play mp3 ringtones?

All comments welcome..It will be on PAYG

Thanks, much appreciated.Do you still have it now or have you upgraded? If upgraded, what to?

To be honest I think there are much better phones out now than the D500. It's been out for over a year, has a really poor camera, poor battery life and almost EVERYONE has one! I got rid of mine for these reasons. I Just bought a Nokia 6230i today and I think everything about it is better then the d500.

If you want one and can afford it get the D600, can be had for £189.99 now on payg and it is much better than the d500.

There good phones but there getting a bit old now, has been superceeded by the D600 now anyway.

I got my d500 a year ago.. still going strong. great phone with good features.. also good build quality.

battery is great

PS. the cam is fine

Totally agree. I don't know what to upgrade to as nothing seems to match my D500 for it's style/size.

I hate them.. i have one myself.. its broken now.. yey

(cam dont load up / flash dont work / sound is totaly gone / backlight is funky and turns on off randomly oh and it crashes to a white screen and its a battery out leave it and battery back in job.. and it might come back on if ya lucky) problems i know of are dodgey cam colours.. screen going all dodgey and one colour.. mine did this also turned like a green colour.. but it righted its self somehow..

every person i know face to face that has owned one (quite afew) has had to take them back with faults...

on PAYG id stay well clear myself.. its not too bad as im on contract etc so can just get replacement or upgrade 12months later (which im about to do on tuesday)

not sure if they have ironed out the bugs on the D600.. hopefully they have..

Thanks for all the info guys.It seems that it's a bit 50/50 some say good and some say bad. Will definatley have to look into it a bit more before buying as my budget is £150.

Same here ;)

Although im getting a N80 when they come out.

they are good phones, but i know too many people who have had problems with them. from broken screens to the sliders, many people i know who have or have had one had problems at some point.

I've had one for just over a year aswell.

It's taken some major punishment and still going strong. No problems with it whatsoever, cam is good quality, I use the flash as a torch at night so I don't wake the lil' lady.

Can't really think of any features on any other phone that would tempt me into switching at the moment.

Three of my friends have the d500 and I don't reli like it. One of my mates said that it was kinda annoying to use for phone calls because sometimes he accidentally pushed the front down which ends the call!

Yesturday I decided to get the Nokia 6230i and I am very pleased with it!

It's a good enough phone.

Likes:
Small
Loads of features
Good integration with bluetooth and outlook

Don't likes:

You have to use a default message tone.
You have to use a default alarm tone.
