Nikon has some cash back offers on right now. I'd been looking at the D7000 since the reductions pending the D7100 coming out but now there's cash back on it, it's even more appealing.

On paper, the 5200 should be better, although reviews seems to edge it to the D7000 still.

thoughts?

D7000, or stretch to d7100 to get professional AF system.

i'd been calling around regarding stock of the D7000 and one shop who'd had a D7100 said that they preferred the D7000. Anyway, D7100 way out of budget for me. If i had that cash, i'd be tempted to go for the D600 instead.

I couldn't stretch to the 7100 if I wanted to. I was pretty set on the 7000 but couldn't ignore the specs of the 5200 on paper.

Already looking at lenses to go with it now :-/

Fancy an ultra wide and a general zoom for now. Have a little 35mm and a kit lens from a d80 already. Considering the 18-200nikon and reading reviews of wides now.

Will the 18-105 be any better than the 18-135(i think that's what it is) that I have with the d80 already? Would the 150extra over the body price be better spent elsewhere?

Just found the 18-135 doesn't auto zoom with the d7000. Stupidly considering the d600 now :-/. Although for the same price as a d600 with kit lens I can get a d7000 and two very good lenses.

Erm eh? Auto zoom?
The 18-135mm will work perfectly on a D7000.

I think perhaps you are confused but I'm not sure with what. Care to elaborate?

I don't believe the d7000 has a lens motor? And the 18-135 doesn't seem to have a motor in and would rely on the lens motor in the d80 for example

Yeah, both on af. Only tried quick this morning as I borrowed the d7000 to have a play before buying. Chucked that 18-135 on as mate wanted his lens back. Will have another go, would be great if it all worked as I wanted.
