Hi everyone. I took the Nikon D2X out at the weekend, and for a number of reasons I feel I want to upgrade. Firstly its massive I don’t like the size, I actually find it difficult to take steady shots with it, probably in part to technique, but still, the size is now an issue for me.
*
I also took* a few shots at the weekend. Compared to the ones I was taking on my Sony RX-100, the colours just did not look right, I spent a lot of time in PS editing the pictures, the sharpness was not great.* It may have just been me but I was not happy at all with the quality of the pictures.
*
Maybe I’m making excuses at this point, or trying to talk myself out of the D2X. I don’t know, but I have decided I am going to sell and buy something else.
*
In terms of lenses and as mentioned in another thread I own these:
*
Nikkor AF-S 24 85mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED
*
Nikkor AF VR 80-400mm 1:45-5.6D ED
*
Nikkor Wide Angle 24mm f/2.8D Prime Lens
*
For Wide Angle scenery pictures I am actually happy to use the Sony RX-100, it gives fantastic results, it also allows me to easily get up close and personal and its also great for the city.
*
I am loving landscape photography right now, I’m useless at it, but I am trying, I also want to take wildlife and still shoot some aviation photography.* Basically I want to do it all…. Or at least try.* This makes the decision somewhat hard as I am assuming (if those lenses will be ok) that my choice is a D7100 or a D600.
*
I guess the worse lens of them all is the kit lens that came with the D2X, the Nikkor AF-S 24 85mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED. I was thinking of selling that too and whatever body I choose, choose the kit version for an upgrade.
*
It’s a big investment, the D600 especially.* My only advantage is I live in the US so I will buy using my UK bank account J and save a little money. This is one of the few occasions (for me) where the choice is going to be close. I’d love some of you more professional guys to try and help.

I'd be loosing all the lenses I have though. That would be the down side and I am assuming the resale value would . also be lower. Unless anyone has a good argument for a D600 I think I am sold on the 7100
