D800 AF fix on the way

Hmm haven't noticed a problem with mine. I wonder if I'm one of the lucky ones, or I'd need a test card to see it. Don't really fancy sending mine off to Nikon, haven't only just got it!

It's only an issue when using the left outer AF point, so probably not an issue for most. It's not all bodies, looks to be a QA issue.

It only affects some bodies and some lenses, and only noticeable in narrow DoF scenes when using outer AF points.

This is good to hear, as I'm sure this would likely be an issue with the glass I shoot with.
Not sure which to get tbh, D600 or 800, as I like the idea of a smaller formfactor.

I'm over the moon with the D800E. The resolution is incredible, if I had managed to take any decent photos yet I could make a thread I suppose :)

If the D600 sensor is equal or better than the D800 wrt to high ISO and DR performance AND the AF is not too far behind then I would definitely consider it. The money saved would go towards some more glass (Nikon 500mm f/4.0 VR) and potentially I would upgrade again to the D800 replacement.

I also like the form factor of the D7000, not too big, not too small, decently built and weather proof.
