D90 + Time Lapse

After seeing this video http://vimeo.com/11673745 I want to give time lapse ago, but seems to be conflicting info on if the D90 can do it without a 3rd party tool.

So does anyone have any experience with this and what did they use to do it?

I know my brother got a cheapo remote which a timelapse feature. This could be the cheapest and easier option.

Something like the Phottix Nikos will do the job nicely. You need the N10 version to fit the D90.

I suppose it depends on how long you want the time lapse to be over. A quick option would probably be to shoot tethered and use software to remote trigger the camera at set intervals.
