Hi im looking for a cheap but small powersupply for this board,

Im making a case for a small but discrete media player to put in the lounge or eventually in my car. So keeping that in mind im looking for a cheap n cheerful psu :)

yeah but £60 for the psu and adapter seems a bit pricey. Im wondering if i could strip apart an old laptop to get a PSU.

See this is where i need some help, If i plumb that 12v into my car, which is technically floating at 13v ish and goes up and down a bit, would that be bad for the PSU?

I wouldnt bother going the way your going for powering it in a car. google:

M2-ATX 160W Intelligent Vehicle DC-DC Power Supply

something like that will solve all your problems for £50

You could use one of the same power bricks that you would use for a pico psu although if you were doing it that way id go for one of the 90w PSU's and a 110w power brick just to be on the safe side. (also just noticed there is a pico psu car DC-DC adapter available) you'd just need to wire up a plug and socket in both the car and on the psu so you can move it about easily.

Where you are going with this though you will get more specific advice on mp3car.com

Read THIS then have a look about the forums there, this sort of theing is their bread and butter.
