I have an old Sony STR-DH820 amp that is no longer used in the home, so have brought it into work for some improved audio.

Am merrily using the FM tuner in it, but, alas, cannot get my favourite radio station on there. Am now looking to get DAB onto it and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for what to get?

I have had a look at Richer and tbh do not want to pay £200 for a separate tuner. The Onkyo UDB1 does look like a great solution, but as I do not have an Onkyo amp, is of no use.

Only other stipulation is that it must have an external aerial connection on it. My office is in a metal shipping container, so does not get the best reception, so have fitted external aerial.

Virtually all dab seperates have externall ariels, fleabay is the place allways second hand dab tuners on there.
Not much choice in the dab market as it has not took off over here.
You coud allways try a prorable in your office and if it works connect the headphone or optical out [if it has one, Pure trannies have sonetimes] to your amp, that is what I have done in my metal workshop, works ok

I added a Chromecast Audio to one of my old amps in the garage for internet radio. Was only something like £15-20 in a sale. Would that not work for you? Obviously not quite the same as DAB, but would likely get all the sations you need. Only "drawback" is you need to control it via your phone.

I'm guessing the amp has a line in? If so just grab a cheap dab radio from anywhere (supermarkets always have them) but make sure it has a line out (so headphone jack) and run a cable from the radio.

If its for use at work I'm guessing aesthetics isn't massively important and price / functionality is king?

had a look on fleabay and the second hand dab separates are still expensive, so I would deffo go for a portable with an out socket. My old pure portable even has the fitting type for an external Ariel
