hey all,

I was just wondering if anybody would be able to offer some advice on DAC's for desktop PC usage.

Does anybody know if they are any downsides/upsides to using a DAC for a desktop PC over a soundcard? I primarily game and listen to music on my PC, but it's also where I work, so I'm on it for most of the day.

I appreciate the advice, thanks!

I won't be using them with speakers - for now at least - but I was planning on plugging my Sennheiser IE80s into them as I have a custom cable for those too and don't want to use an extension.

Budget ideally under £200

It will certainly improve the quality of music and as your spending a lot of time listening I think it would be worth the investment. You really want a DAC with a good headphone amplifier built in to maximise your gains.

Under £200 will get you the FiiO E17 with FiiO E09K. But the IEMs will not benefit from such an amplifier. Just the E17 will do.

Ahh ok, thanks I'll look into it. Is there anything else I should look for particularly when looking at DAC's?

Also with regards to DAC's, how do they fair for gaming usage as well?
