Last weekend my Dad picked up his new toy that can be seen below, so in reality this post is more of a bragging post/showing some nice piccies than asking a question. Im at uni at the moment won't be able to sit in it (not drive :( ) until this coming weekend.

On a slightly different note, for father's day im going to sign him up to an owners club of some nature. Ideally the club will send a monthly/quartley publication with event's etc. Any recommendations?

Beautiful car, really lovely.

Have you got any more details? It's a 98, right? How much did he pay and did he get it privately or from a dealer?

It is indeed a 98 reg (Feb). As for the price, he wouldn't be too happy with me posting that but less than £30k. Real men call it a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (996). I believe the engine capacity to be 3.4litres and it also has tiptronic gears (like a racing car or computer steering wheel, what ever you see fit).

Infact, this is where he got it from click me, that has more details :). I'll get some nice pic's when im back home.

edit - ahhhhh hehe, yeaup it would look a lot better with clear indicators. It would also look a lot nicer with me behind the wheel and not my dad :D but I can't see that happening.

Trying to do lots of resarch into these at the moment.

Obviously it was well under £30k or he's been shafted, but trying to get an idea of what they actually sell for, so dissapointed he wants to keep the price a secret, did he maybe pay over the odds or something?

Anyway.. how many did he look at before finding that one? Whats the condition like do you know, do they generally wear well at that age? It certainly looks pretty great from the pictures.

Maybe he paid over the odds, maybe he didn't im not too sure but his not the kind of person to be shafted at all. He looked at a good 10 or so in the flesh before deciding on the final one. He found the largest variable affecting the price to be the colour. There were a number in purple, namely an RS (?) version as well as a few in yellow and "aqua blue/green". In some cases this knocked a good £5-8k off the price.

As for the condition its apparently in excellent shape. Being a tad over 8 years old and with only 38,000 miles I don't think it's been out too much.

Wear and tear on Porsches is meant to be pretty good on both new and old models. It's apparently one of the few cars (not the only) you can drive on trackday and then drive home without too much tinkering to insure you don't ruin anything on it.

Doesn't Porsche offer one of the longest warranties for there cars then any other company?
That would show how much faith they have on them not breaking

Didn't know about that, would that be affected by the fact he didn't buy it new from Porsche though?
