Is it true that if you deselect the 'Daemon Tools Search Bar' when installing you do not get Spyware/Adware or does it still install some spyware?

i did get an avast warning when i tried installing it, was a warning about adware or spyware. i had also deselected the search bar.

i just used alcohol 52% instead.

All is explained in plain text on the Daemon Tools download page.

DAEMON Tools is an advanced application for Microsoft Windows which provides THE best optical media emulation in the industry.
!! THIS VERSION SUPPORTS 32BIT OS (Microsoft Windows XP, Windows2003, Windows 2000, VISTA) ONLY !!
This version has an option to install client-side software applications (DAEMON Tools Searchbar and Save Now) that deliver a limited number of behaviorally targeted and contextually relevant coupons, ads and comparative shopping results directly to consumers desktops - without compromising the privacy, security or smooth functioning of peoples computers! No URL hijacking or redirects! In order to support FREE distribution of DAEMON Tools we highly encourage you at least to try out this optional software! (you can remove it anytime later when you wish: via Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs)

I found some more info, it seems the Pro version has mandatory Adware while the Free version has an option of disabling it (strangely enough)

I guess I will have to cross my fingers when installing and hope for the best, I never trust them though and wouldn't be surprised if they did install some crap in the background.

just install the free version without the adaware it does near enough everything the paid for one does.
