So currently have a virtual drive set up but I never use it so looking to uninstall it.

Using daemon tools to do so gives me a blue screen restard and going through device manager and using that methods doesn't sort it either. Each time I restart I get the "computer reconises new device" bubble.

Any suggestions?

Tah.

right click Daemon tools Icon in taskbar tray area, goto Virtual Devices, the drive letter you want to remove, then click Remove device. Job done, If that dont work then just un install Daemon tools

It wasn;t showing in my taskbar tray, so tried an uninstall which gave me a bluscreen. Tried removing it with device manager and then uninstalling daemontools before it had a chance to reload the drive.
This worked.

But while rooting through my task tray I discovered this:
anydvd.jpg

Now I don't have any dvd installed, is this still there from an old install of it?

If I don't get a resolve from this thread will create a new one.

for the Record, Daemon tools has been a very very shoddy product for quite some time now. VirtualCloneDrive is far far better (less rootkits!)

Try uninstalling it from Safemode?

Got a reference for this statement? I have used Daemon tools for years and never have I seen a rootkit or any other type of Shoddy software associated with it, in fact I have had trouble with VCD as it does not support as many file types as Daemon tools does.

My advice still stands, reinstall and remove!

Oh and Anydvd is not installed by Daemon tools!

+1 to this, DT don't even write all their software, they use 3rd party tools

Not anymore. I read it here on OcUK more than two years ago. nonetheless, Daemon-tools went through a phase of being very dodgy, and i've had more than one instance of the AV i was running at the time flagging up as i was installing it.

Sure, VCD doesn't support as many formats, but I hardly ever encounter a disk image that isn't an ISO, and I do, it's almost always a BIN + Cue which VCD works with just fine.

Does DT still use the Patin Couffin driver?, that's what's what the bruhaha was all about, it would really affect optical drives, slowing their throughput.
I finally clicked on to it when it would take forever to rip a movie DVD, once DT was removed the rip speed shot back up again.
