I want a new motherboard, as the one I have cant fit anything bigger than a GTX460 on, and only has one PCI slot stopping me from going SLI. Obviously i need to reinstall windows, so this has got me concerned over other programs.

I have quite a lot of programs including some games not purchased on steam such as crysis max edition, lightroom 3 and also all my itunes files.

Firstly, im out of devices/pc's for the itunes, can I deactivate my current PC to allow the songs to be tranferred to the new one?

Also, Im planning on using my drive as a slave, so obviously Office, Lightroom, Crysis, warhead etc etc will be on there, will I have to buy new licences or can I get the product key removed from my old system and authorised on the new one?

Really want to go ahead with this upgrade, but tbh if i have to buy everything again I just cant afford it!

Nothing to stop you reinstalling your programs using the keys you already have, most software will behave normally with a reinstall. If your sticking with the same brand and type of board (not switching AMD to Intel) then you might not need to reinstall at all!

It is AMD to AMD, and the processor and pretty much everything attached to it is the same.

Motherboard is from Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H to Asus M5A99X EVO AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 PCI-Express ATX

Uninstall motherboard chipset drivers and sound card driver (if using inboard) turn pc off put in new hardware restart install new drivers job done!

Then all you need to do is clone your install to the new drive and your away

What so id keep the current Windows etc?

How do I clone an install? Wouldnt that be illegal?

Never understood why you cant just switch motherboards and keep all the same, its not like your going to have two win 7 copies, its the same damn hard drive!!

Oh and why Microsoft think its just to not show any phone numbers or email addresses on their website until you pay a £50 support key is ridiculous.
