ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT Performance Benchmarks

Anh Huynh (Blog) - April 24, 2007 4:03 AM

ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT puts up some impressive numbers in benchmarks.

After several delays, AMD plans to launch its long-awaited R600 graphics processors in mid-May. AMD is currently briefing select members of the press on its R600 architecture in the Tunisia, but there is no embargo date on the R600 for DailyTech -- we can show you benchmarks now...

Pretty good it outdoes the GTS most of the time and apparently is going to cost around the same price.... now its looking that it was a good idea i waited for R600s to come out!

nice!

Is it just me or does the HL2: Epsidoe 1 benchmark look odd compared to the performance with other applications, it is almost double that of the 8800GTS where other games you are looking at 1 - 2 fps.

Already posted these results in the main R600 thread.

I would guess that this must be a typo in the results as I can't see any reason it lose that many FPS unless it was something screwy with the drivers.

Em.............

Was this card not supposed to be compared to the GTX really however?

Even at that it looks good!

I know there is an XTX coming out but im pretty sure people said it was GTX comparable with the XT

Ok SO it does well in CoD 2 and Half Life 2 Ep 1 is just an anomaly...
However in FEAR and Company of Heroes it is only like 1 or 2 FPS quicker than an 8800 GTS... Not particularly staggering considering the delay we have had - I was hoping that it would blow the GTS totally clean out of the water, and it only seems to do that in Call of Duty 2 - with newer games like Company of Heroes, and that lovely title FEAR, it does not seem to be much better than the 8800 GTS

Looks like they had some wierd issue there and are looking into it. Nice price/performance ratio though! :)

gt

I'm a little more interested in the XTX version and how it compares with a GTX. Need a liitle more info on AA/AF modes and performance too.

If it doesn't perform more than 20% better then there's not much point in upgrading till around xmas IMO. I think we'll have much better choices then.

Price point will be a big issue. I see their aiming to price the XT at the same level as a GTS 640MB. Does this mean that the XTX will be the same price as a GTX? Thats not exactly tempting :(

i dont get it you know roughly that the cards will be roughly the same for same
the top rad will be about the same nvidia like it always is minus or plus a few frames which you wont notice hardly anyways.basically its either you want nvidia or rad .

Yeah but everyone ahs been banging on about these cards being amazing and tbh they aint exactly mind blowing, I even doubt they will stretch their muscles in DX10 probably just outperforming the 8800's but obviously we dont know yet! But still by the time the games arrive we will have Driver Optimisations and New Cards! Big w00p im actually more and more happy that I have been enjoying my 8800gts for around 4months now :D

Nah, there's usually a fair performance gap at the top end, although in this case I think you're probably right ;) The hardware is miles ahead of the games atm, so from that point of view it doesn't make a whole lot of difference which top end you go for.

Most of us don't want an Nvidia or ATI particularly - we want the fastest card with the best support available.

I must admit, it was one of the best hardware decisions I've ever made :) Cracker of a card.

Ill await proper reviews, doesn't look right to me that.

Interesting that article says its equipped with 320 stream processors to take on the 8800 GTS, i thought the XT was the GTX competitor.

fake, only from a technical perspective comparing 512bit interface to the GTS 320bit this is fishy.
