Daisy-chaining ethernet switch

Hey guys,

im playing with the idea of having two systems, and wondering if I can daisy chain the ethernet setup..

I have setup : router > cable > 5 port switch > xbox/tv/sky q/Mac

So can I go : router > cable > 5 port switch > xbox/tv/sky q/ > 5 port switch > Mac/pc

sorry if its unclear, if so let me know and I will try and re explain.

There's no problem with daisy chaining network switches. You'll introduce some bandwidth limitations but they're very, very, unlikely to be an issue.

Just make sure you don’t create a loop anywhere, don’t connect two switches together with more than one cable.

I have the router downstairs next to the master phone socket. Then I wired an ethernet cable straight up the wall via some pipes that go up there. Then in the room upstairs I connect it to an ethernet switch that serves the computer and tv in there.. and I connected an ethernet cable that goes from that switch to another switch in my room which has the pc, tv, games consoles in.

No issues at all with this.

As unlikely as it is in 2021 make sure you use switches and not hubs!
